Homespun : tales from America's favorite storytellers

Smith, Jimmy Neil. (Added Author).

Summary: Ever since Jimmy Neil Smith organized the first National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, in 1973, there has been an explosive renaissance of America's greatest oral tradition in every state of the union. Each year, during the first weekend in October, a growing legion of people of all ages comes to the festival from all over the world to hear yarn spinners weave their tales. Included here are ghost stories; "Jack tales" hearwarming family reminiscences; anecdotes of Brer Rabbit, cowboys and native Americans; and a performance-type narrative about the terrors and pleasures of buying a country house.
